4-H needs you!

4-H Believes in Youth and 4-H Needs You!

YOU are the future of this country and 4-H wants to help you get involved in your community and become a leader!

Why would I want to become a 4-H Leader? People volunteer to become 4-H Leaders for many reasons. One obvious benefit for parents is spending time with and being a positive role model for their children. Other benefits volunteers say they enjoy are:

Enhanced self esteem
Leadership skills development
Job related skill development
Social opportunities

There are many opportunities for volunteering in 4-H. Some possibilities include:
Leading a club
Organizing events and activities
Teaching youth
Teaching adults
Serving on committees
Making displays
Presentations
Writing news articles
Chaperoning trips
And many others

The Cooperative Extension Service, 4-H Agent, and the 4-H Youth & Development Department will provide:
A suitable and meaningful job description
Orientation and training to perform the role
Involvement in planning and decision making
Opportunities for personal growth
Feedback on performance
Recognition for contributions
Opportunities for advanced training

The process of becoming a volunteer is quite simple. It goes like this:

1.Call the 4-H Office at (336) 599-1195.
2.Complete a 4-H volunteer application form and screening process.
3.Read and sign the North Carolina 4-H Volunteer Standards of Behavior Guidelines.
