The program is designed to identify and hold youth responsible for inappropriate behaviors. It provides participants an opportunity to learn and practice acceptable behavior patterns through structured activities. | ||
Target Population | ||
Youth 9-15 years of age who are:

Guided Growth is a plan designed to reinforce educational skills and foster self-improvement. The youth participates in scientific measurable life skills education, which involves monitoring the parent-child relationship and assisting parents with gaining control and re-directing the child's life. | ||
Community Service and Restitution: this component is geared as a positive means to provide the youth with a clear understanding of the effects of their inappropriate behavior, conduct, and/or crime. It is a further step towards re-establishment of respect for authority and the, good self-discipline and the ability to recognize negative influence from peers. Youth must sacrifice personal free time to earn money to compensate victims for their losses. However, in the case of community service, personal time is sacrificed for no compensation gain. | ||
Mediation Service is a confidential process for resolving disputes and conflicts through discussion, problem solving and compromise. The parties involved in the dispute meet with trained mediators who help the parties work toward a mutually agreeable solution. There is no charge for court-referred mediation. The mediation service is limited to youth conflicts between youth and their peers, parents, teachers, and siblings that are referred by the courts and juvenile intake court counselor. | ||
